Avichal is a sitarist based in Los Angeles whose music fuses the expressive depth of Indian classical raga with the warmth of Western melodic intuition. A senior disciple of the legendary sitar maestro, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, he offers performances offer a journey rooted in Hindustani tradition yet open and inviting to modern audiences.
Inspired by his father’s deep love of melody, Avichal began his sitar studies at age 24. Since 2009, he has carried forward the legacy of the Etawah Gharana, delivering peaceful and profoundly human experiences at cultural festivals, yoga studios, private events, and concert halls across the United States. His collaborators include notable musicians such as tabla player Jyotiprakas, flutist Aakash Pujara, and santoor player Kamaljeet Alhuwalia.
